The story
The product
Duraid (Ebanah) is a writing platform built for Arabic writers. It pairs a TipTap-based editor with support for both right-to-left and left-to-right text, highlights Quranic verses inside documents, and lets teams write together in real time.
The build
The frontend runs on Next.js 15 and the backend on NestJS with PostgreSQL. Socket.io powers live collaboration, Stripe handles subscriptions, and AWS SES sends transactional email.
What made it hard

Mixed-direction text
Arabic and English often sit in the same document, so the editor has to handle right-to-left and left-to-right text side by side.

Real-time collaboration
Several people editing one document at once, kept in sync over Socket.io.
